Why was "Organically Right" Grown"

The Dog-Gone Truth for OrganicallyRight

Learning to live organically became a goal of mine after I began cooking food for my dogs in 2006.   My mail carrier, Kathy, shared her recipes after I told her that my Staffordshire bull terrier, Ginger, would get sick after eating store bought pet food.

Ginger was suffering from joint pain and skin allergies.   Then, one side of her face began to droop, like a person who was suffering from Bell’s palsy.  Bell’s palsy is an occurring paralysis that distorts one side of the face, which is caused by a lesion of the facial nerve.  Even after the vet treated Ginger, the palsy was still evident.  Kathy told me how her dog, Brutus, had some similar health issues and that cooking her own food solved the problem.  At this point, I was tired of wasting my money on premium brand dog food that only seemed to worsen Ginger’s condition.

Although, I didn’t start out using organic ingredients, just cooking with simple ingredients of boneless chicken or hamburger and certain vegetables was a huge hit in preventing Ginger’s chronic indigestion.  The vets found nothing that could link her stomach problems to other diseases, so the obvious was her diet.  So, I started with Kathy’s simple recipe of brown rice, chicken, frozen vegetables and just ¼ tsp. of garlic powder.  Sometimes I mixed them altogether and sometimes I kept the rice separate.  Topdogtips.com has some good and cautionary information on adding garlic to homemade dog food.

Ginger loved the food, but her condition didn’t improve much.  Then, thank the Lord, two weeks later my Ginger woke up with newness to her body.  Her eyes were brighter.  The palsy was almost gone.  Best of all, she wasn’t limping any more.  Patience does pay off.  So began my slow journey into the world of organic living.

Then, on March 15, 2007, the Melamine Pet Food Recall of contaminants caused wide-spread contamination of pet food resulting in renal failure and deaths of pets all around the world.  Even the top-rated pet food brands were affected.  It was tragic, but I was relieved that I had been cooking natural meals for my dogs which may have saved their lives.

I’m happy to say that my current vet, Dr. Randal Sakaino, of Mililani Town Center Pet Clinic is a Godsend.  In fact, all of the staff are angels sent from heaven.  They truly love my pets (and I have a lot-2 dogs and 8 cats; all rescues) as if they were their own.

I’ve recently found that Hill’s Science Diet food for older dogs of 7+ years has proved to be excellent for my doggies, Conan and Brownie.  Purina Pro dry food for cats has also earned great reviews by veterinarians and my cats love it.  Perhaps, these companies learned from the 2007 widespread contamination of pet food that killed pets all around the world, to become responsible manufacturers of their products.  Likewise, we too can become responsible caretakers of our pet’s health.

Several years has since past and so has my Ginger.  Although I miss her every day, my faith in Jesus and in the truth of God’s Word, the bible, tells me that she simply went home to be with her Creator.  That’s a homecoming “I” look forward to…someday.

Subsequently, it was during this time I decided to grow OrganicallyRight.com
